It’s tiiimmeeee! Mariah has officially defrosted and we’ve got you covered with content ideas..

The holiday season is here, and it's the perfect time to shine on socials and make the most of this magical time of the year! Here’s your no b.s. guide of content ideas this holiday season. Whether you're an e-commerce business, a local retailer, or a service provider, these ideas will help you boost engagement, drive sales, and spread the cheer. We've got you covered with these 5 fun and festive content ideas!

  1. A HOLIDAY THEMED GIVEAWAY.

Running a giveaway on Instagram is a great way to boost brand awareness, get more followers, and promote your products – plus, they’re really easy to set up (and even easier to participate in - major key!) The key to a great giveaway is to clearly define your goals and create the entry terms around this. For example, if your goal is to gain more followers, following your account could be an entry requirement. If your goal is to increase brand awareness, sharing the post on their stories could be an entry requirement.

Remember, giveaways are not a quick fix for your marketing goals - so it’s important to plan long-term content to keep new followers and create engaging content.

Model and fitness enthusiast @sommerray tapped into the holiday spirit with a giveaway of a free workout pdf. Although freebees seem counter-intuitive, it’s a great way to get potential customers into the marketing funnel!

2. Behind-the-scenes

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again- it’s all about authenticity. Gen-Z craves genuineness and authenticity from brands. One study reviewed that 61 per cent of consumers said that they are more likely to shop with a company that treats its employees well.

The holiday season is the perfect time to get some BTS content. Take your audience behind the scenes of your businesses. Share videos or photos of holiday preparations, staff celebrations, and the people who make it all happen. Authenticity goes a looong way.

Media and entertainment platform @betches shared a TikTok that went viral featuring BTS footage from their work Christmas party.

3. Tips and Advice

Create social media posts that offer tips, tricks, and advice for making the most of the holiday season. This could include "how-to" guides, DIY projects, or content about holiday traditions.

Educational content works great around the holiday time- if you’re a marketing agency you could pull together a “how-to” guide for creating content for the festive season. An interior designer? You could share tips on DIY projects people can do at home as they prepare for the holiday season. This is great as it can be adapted to a carousel on Instagram and TikTok, or as a reel too, and used across any industry!

Here confidence coaching platform @confidentandkillingit shared practical tips on setting boundaries around the holiday time in a simple, effective carousel.

4. User Generated Content

The festive season is the perfect time to tap into User Generated Content (UGC). Encourage your customers to share their holiday experiences with your products or services on social media. Create a unique hashtag and ask users to use it when posting their holiday moments. Repost and celebrate their content to build community and trust. You can even use a branded hashtag and reward the best posts with prizes or recognition and spread the holiday cheer even more!

Cult beauty brand @glossier regularly feature user generated content. This builds community and trust, and is also a quick content win!
