Your Social Media To Do List For the New Year

Let’s revamp your social media for the New Year!

It’s so important to refresh & revamp your social media from time to time, so here’s a list of things we will be doing before the New Year & things you might want to do too (BTW — steps are in no particular order).

UPDATE YOUR BIO

Have you changed your business direction? Have you changed your niche? Or your slogan? Make sure your bio reflects that! This step includes reviewing your link in bio & CTA (call to action). What is your main focus for promoting in Q1? Is driving sales for a specific product? Signing more clients? Driving more sales for digital products? Make sure your CTA & link in your bio drives new profile visitors & your audience to exactly that!

UPDATE & ORGANIZE YOUR IG HIGHLIGHTS

You will be surprised as to how often we see un-organized, long highlights that aren’t relevant anymore! Check if you have highlights from Black Friday, or any-other time-relevant highlights & remove them. See how you can refine your highlights. Reflect on whether they are easy to follow for new profile visitors? Here are some universal highlights we recommend…

  • Reviews: any UGC, reviews, testimonials

  • Start Here: introduce yourself, who are you? what do you stand for? who are you for?

  • Individual Products & Services that you want to highlight

UPDATE & ORGANIZE YOUR IG GUIDES

Same thing goes for your IG Guides! Check if they are still relevant & update them based on your most recent & relevant content. Any Gift Guides that stayed for the holiday season? Remove them and replace them with anything that you want to drive traffic towards. Remember the question we asked you above? “What is your main focus for promoting in Q1?” — how you organize your content in your Guides should reflect whatever you are aiming to drive traffic towards. Don’t forget, Valentine’s Day is coming up, so start thinking about your Valentine’s Day Gift Guides.

REVIEW YOUR INSIGHTS

Review your insights across all social media platforms & make sure you note it down. Look over your month, 3 months & even year, if you want to go the extra mile. So you can review them in a years time and see your progress within a year. Make this a yearly habit! While reviewing your insights, keep note of areas you could improve on. Is it driving more clicks? Is it improving your reach? This will help you identify your goals on social media for 2023. Our analytics tracker is included in our Notion Content Planner template, which you can buy here.

PLAN YOUR CONTENT A YEAR AHEAD

Yes… you heard that right. And no, we don’t mean being extra & planning a years worth of content in one sitting, we mean reviewing what you will be launching in 2023 & creating a loose plan with what your quarterly (or monthly) focus will be in terms of content on social media. Again, our Notion Content Planner template is the perfect place you can do this, which you can find here.

CHECK ALL YOUR UNANSWERED DM’s & COMMENTS

Not only to respond to, but they’re also great content ideas for the future! Keep note of any questions or comments that your audience tend to ask & create videos around those exact questions and/or statements.

UPDATE YOUR STRATEGY

Refresh your entire social media strategy. This doesn’t always mean to turn things upside down, but it can. Along with reviewing your yearly focus, your goals & your insights - determine your new strategy. If your reach was low in 2022& you want to reach more non-followers & new faces, maybe one of your goals will be to turn to more ‘entertaining-for-all’ type videos on both IG & TikTok. If your website clicks were low in 2022 & you want to drive more, maybe one of your goals will be to create more engaging, fun stories that drive clicks to your externally linked links! Based on this, you can move forward with strategy! You might look at increasing your posting cadence, removing a content pillar that just wasn’t doing it for you or introducing something totally new. It’s individual & uniquely based on your insights, goals & new focus. If you need help with determining a strategy, we have a 1-off service for keen & motivated brands that you can learn more about & book here.
