Social Media Advice to Ditch in 2024

All the tea on the “advice” that we hate as marketers ☕️

One thing that’s guaranteed with social media, it’s *always* changing. With social media marketing being one of the fastest growing industries at the moment- it’s no wonder we see a TON of “advice” on the do’s and don’t of the social media marketing world.

We’ve sifted through the noise for you. Here’s a list of what to leave in 2023 - you’re welcome!

POST WHEN YOUR AUDIENCE IS MOST ACTIVE

Yes, your insights are a great place to learn from so it is worth thinking about when a post is going to be most relevant, like calendar hooks relevant to your biz.

Our audience is most active at 9pm - but you’re (hopefully) switched off from work, so talking to you about how to get on your content game when you’re winding down with tea or out for dinner with your mates probably ain’t a shout.

REPLY TO ALL COMMENTS BEFORE YOU POST YOUR NEXT POST

Don’t take this the wrong way, conversation should 100% be at the forefront of your strategy (yes- we’ll say it again, community is everything!).

Community building is honestly an extreme sport - so if you want more comments and engagement, focus on investing more time into community management and not just when you’re looking for an engagement ‘hack’.

POSTING FOR POSTINGS SAKE

Your reminder that your posts need thought behind them. Tick-box posting or content for content’s sake is NOT a sustainable strategy. You should always be thinking about your community before you hit that post button. Which takes us nicely onto our next point….

POSTING EVERYDAY

Hear us out… sometimes less is more. With the abundance of content now available we’re practically on the edge of creative fatigue, plus if you’re posting PURLEY for visibility your audience will feel it too. Quality over quantity always. Yes, some platforms value ‘consistency and you will see a boost in followers, but they probably won’t convert if your content is rubbish.

Sorry not sorry. ☕️🐸

AND LASTLY, THE FOLLOWING AND UNFOLLOWING METHOD

No explanation needed for this one, this should be illegal in our eyes. Ditch immediately!
