All Of Instagram’s Newest Features EXPLAINED

There’s been a lot recently, so we’re giving you a full rundown!

Recently Instagram has added a ton of features, and it’s a little overwhelming if you ask us. Including…

  • introducing multiple links in bio

  • the shared “saving” feature

  • new Reels insights

  • a new trend report

  • a new look to the Reels editing suite

  • new DM labels for brands

  • customized explore page (in testing phase)

MULTIPLE LINKS IN YOUR BIO

You will now be able to add multiple links in your bio on Instagram. So, what does this mean for “link in bio” sites, like “Milkshake”, “Linktree”, “Stanstore” etc… In short, nothing. If you want a more aesthetic feel to your link in bio, then you might want to stick with third-party apps, like ours. Options like Stanstore makes it easier for your customers to purchase directly from you. If you don’t make 1-off sales and you want to direct your audience to your website and a few more links, then opt for Instagram’s in-app version!

COLLABORATIVE SAVING

When you save a post on Instagram, it gets added to a “collection”, which helps you organize the posts you save. Instagram has introduced the ability to save posts to a collection as a collaborative effort with your friends and family. Everyone in the group can then add and remove posts!

NEW REELS INSIGHTS

Finally, new Reel insights are here! The first one is “total watch time”, which shows the total amount of time your Reel was played, including any replays. The second is “average watch time”, which shows the average amount of times your Reel was played, which is calculated by dividing watch time by the number of total plays. These are such helpful tools to measure engagement, other than likes and the number of plays. A bonus feature that Instagram is also adding, is showing which new followers come from your Reel! Another very insightful insight to keep track of!

NEW TREND REPORT

You will now be able to find a Reels Trend report in your professional dashboard! This report will show weekly audios and hashtags that are trending, which you can use for yourself!

UPDATED REELS EDITING SUITE

I just know how many social media managers are screaming “FINALLY” after seeing this new feature. Instagram is really, finally, adding a better editing suite for Reels. If you have TikTok, it will look very similar to TikTok’s editing suite. You will be able to crop clips more easily, add stickers, add & adjust text and music, etc…

NEW DM LABELS FOR BRANDS

Instagram is mimicking Gmail’s labels to help brands organize their DM’s! If you have multiple people handing DM’s on your Instagram page, this feature will be god sent. You’ll have the option to mark a DM as…

  • Flag (i.e. something you want your team to come back to)

  • Booked

  • Ordered

  • Paid

  • Shipped

On top of this, they’re also introducing “saved replies”, to which you can create a keyboard shortcut to, and your saved reply will show up, as well as “welcome messages”, which can be automated when someone starts a conversation with you in the DM’s.

CUSTOMIZED EXPLORE PAGE

This feature is in testing and probably won’t be out for a few months, but here’s what you can expect so far. Instagram is working on the ability to customize your Explore page, for example, to filter it based on your friend’s likes & interactions. You might want to keep an eye out with what you’re interacting with…
